Ernest “Ernie” William Jones, 75, passed away November 23, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Ernie retired as an Electrical Contractor, where he was Co-Owner and CEO, with J.C. Driskill, Inc. after 48 years of service. He was a Master Electrician and belonged to the Electric League, ABC of Virginia, and AGC of Virginia. He was an avid golfer and spent many days golfing at Cypress Point Country Club. Ernie was a devoted family man, loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is predeceased by his parents Herman Charles and Mary Catherine Marshall; and sister Rosalee Jones Ebron. Ernie is survived by his wife of 57 years Portia Turner Jones; daughters Sherry Jones and Lisa Jones Bay; daughter-in-law Sharon McKee; son-in-law Christopher M. Bay; grandchildren Jeffrey Randel Bay, Nicholas Harold Bay and Samantha Tyler Bay; and brother Herman Thomas Marshall.
A service will be held Monday, Nov. 26, at 11am in Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk, with James Stamey officiating. Interment to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
