Janie passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on June 23, 2022.
She was born April 1933 in Norfolk, VA. Janie was the youngest of seven children born to Lloyd G. & Lillian C. Keefe. She graduated from Maury High School in 1951. Janie settled in Virginia Beach where she
raised 3 beautiful children. She retired as a warrant clerk after 26 years with the Virginia Beach Police Department.
Janie loved any sport involving a ball. She was an avid softball player and bowler. Janie was a devoted fan of Duke men’s basketball and Virginia Tech football, but her most beloved team was the Washington Redskins. Janie loved working in her yard, especially in her flower beds. She was extremely proud of her azaleas and gardenias.
Janie was preceded in death by her loving son Richard Craig; her parents; two brothers, Lloyd & Leonard; and four sisters, Doris, Louise, Frances, & Dorothy.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon C. Norman, & Tracy L. Dollarhide (Mike), three grandchildren, Amber Norman, Craig Dollarhide (Colleen), Jackson Dollarhide, and her beloved Golden Retriever Abby.
A graveside service will take place at Woodlawn Funeral Home on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations to Station 16-Plaza Fire and Rescue located at 3608 South Plaza Trail, Virginia Beach, VA 23452, or Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters located at 601 Children’s Lane, Norfolk, VA 23507.
