Geraldine "Gerry" Grace Monheim

Geraldine “Gerry” Grace Monheim, 70, entered Eternal life on April 30, 2013 while surrounded by her loving daughters. She was born on December 23, 1942 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Gerry enjoyed drinking tea, walking, going to the beach, visiting her family in Pittsburgh and her pets. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, but often attended Our Lady of Victory Chapel at Naval Station Norfolk. For Gerry, attending Mass and receiving The Holy Eucharist was one of her great passions. She was blessed to have been received into the arms of Jesus on the special Feast Day of St. Pope Pius V, commemorating Our Lady of Victory.

Gerry’s family was very important to her. She was a loving, devoted and faithful wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be missed deeply. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Beck Lukas.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 49 years, Robert L. Monheim, Jr; devoted daughters, Barbara J. Mytych and husband Lee and Marianne M. Pearson and husband Tony; beloved grandchildren, Victoria G. Pearson, Gregory A. Mytych, Matthew C. Mytych and Anthony L. Pearson; sisters, Joan Gregorious and Roberta Lukas and other loving family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests Mass offerings for the repose of the soul of Geraldine Grace Monheim be made by contacting Christ the King Church office at 757-622-1120 or you may contact any Catholic church with the same request.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 6:00 – 7:00 PM with a recitation of The Most Holy Rosary starting at 7:00 PM in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, 818 Norview Avenue, Norfolk, VA 23509. A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Fr. Matthias Lusembo will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 10 AM in Christ the King Catholic Church Catholic Church, 1803 Columbia Avenue, Norfolk, VA 23509. Services for Gerry will conclude at 2:30 PM in Albert G. Horton, Jr., Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milner’s Road, Suffolk, VA 23434.
