

Virginia Beach- Grant "G Man" Clifford Murray, 71, passed away December 17, 2011 with his family by his side. He was born on February 6, 1940 in Harborton, Virginia. He served in the United States Marines, and later worked for the Norfolk Fire Department, where he retired after 35 years of service. His greatest passion, other than playing with his grandkids, was tennis where he played at Cape Henry, and the Virginia Beach Racquet Club.
Grant is predeceased by his parents Claude P. and Mary E. Murray; sister Emily Windsor; and brothers Gene E. Murray and Larry M. Murray. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Janet Murray; daughters Dawn Mansfield, Pamela Lawson, and Wendy Jennings (Bruce); grandchildren Jessica, Sara, Jamie, Buddy, Alexx, Grant, and Erin; one great grandchild Addison; sisters Claudia (Charlie), Edith (Hal), and Connie; brother Harry Murray; and also special sister and brother in law Carolyn and Bobby Garris.
A visitation will be held from 10am to 11am Wednesday, December 21, in Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk. A service will immediately follow at 11am with Dr. Scottie Griffin officiating. The family would like to thank the staff at Virginia Oncology, Dr. Lee and the special Lady Noura, Sentara Hospice and their staff, with special regard to Linda and Lorna. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
