Howard Burton

Howard Burton was born in Dawson, GA, on April 7, 1929, to the late Daniel Burton and Mary Clark. As a young man, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served for 20 years as a submariner. After retiring from the United States Navy he worked as a correctional officer for the State of New Jersey, retiring from there with 22 years of service. Howard enjoyed traveling, gardening, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 65 years, Hazel Ward Burton; son, Minister Thomas M. Burton; a devoted daughter-in-law, Carol Jane; 2 grandsons, Christopher Marcus Burton and Terrance Terrell Burton; 2 great granddaughters, Triniti Aliyss and Bailey Madison Burton; special family member, Carrie Wilson and her husband Jerry and their 3 sons; brother, Johnny Clark; 2 sisters, Mary Scott and Gloria Meade Clark, and many other loving family members. The funeral will be held Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 11 AM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23502.
