John Berkley (Berk) Ferrell, 92 passed away on Sunday, September 04, 2016. Born in Pittsylvania County outside of Danville, Virginia where he was the youngest of 8 children. He served in the Navy during WWII for a short time. He lived most of his adult live in Norfolk, Virginia. He is predeceased by his wife Louise Bauguess Ferrell and daughter Teri Barham.
He is survived by daughter, Debbie Sorensen and husband Russ Sorensen of Chesapeake; grandson who he raised, Michael Craig Ferrell of Norfolk. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Crystal Barham of Norfolk, grandsons, Chris Henderson of Chesapeake, Danny Henderson and wife, Ladena Henderson of Chesapeake, Dane Sorensen and Dylan Sorensen of Chesapeake; one great granddaughter, Madison Barham and one great grandson, Alec Henderson.
Berk had a great love for animals, loved baseball (Yankees) and golf and had a great sense of humor. A graveside service will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens on Thursday, September 8th at 1PM at 6309 E. VA Beach Blvd in Norfolk in the Avenue of States section.
