Karen Theresa Schroeder

Karen Theresa Schroeder, 66, passed away on August, 10, 2017. Karen was the daughter of the late Freer and Marjorie Kiger. She is predeceased by daughter, Wendy Ann Schroeder and brother, Barry Kiger.

Karen was born and raised in Norfolk, VA. She graduated from Maury High School and received many honors during her lifetime. Karen was a Norfolk Junior Miss Pageant Participant in 1969, Miss Lafayette from the “Queens Ball” in 1969 and a distinguished member of the Lafayette Yacht Club. Karen spent a career as a Horse Rider Trainer.

Karen was dearly loved and will be missed by her devoted husband, John William Schroeder; daughter Theresa Lynn Doyle and companion Scot Alan Stratton; brother, F. Gray Kiger Jr. and spouse Diane Kiger; and grandchildren, Andrew Michael Guillemette and Brittany Theresa Guillemette.

Family will receive friends and guests at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Monday, August 14, 2017, 5:00-8:00 pm, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk, VA 23502. Burial will take place on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, 1:00 pm, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2017, 2:00 pm at Park Place United Methodist Church, 500 W. 34th Street, Norfolk VA 23508. A reception will follow the service with Eld.
