Norfolk - Leslie W. Jordan, 79, of Norfolk, went to be with his Lord on Friday, July 13, 2007. Born August 19, 1927 to the late Rixie and Bessie Grubbs Jordan. Married Jean L. Coates on December 3, 1949. He was a member and faithful servant of the Lord for 47 years at Calvary Baptist Church, serving as Deacon, Head Usher, and Chairman of Visitation. Leslie also served his country retiring after 30 years in the U.S. Navy. He loved gardening, helping others, and volunteering with the nursing home ministry. Surviving is his loving wife of 57 years, Jean; son, David W. Jordan of Norfolk; daughter, Sandra R. Jordan of Norfolk; and a brother, Robert W. Jordan and his wife, Anne, of Smithfield, N.C.. A Celebration of Leslie's life will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, July 16, 2007 in Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, with Pastor Richard E. Smith officiating. Interment will be private in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends today from 2-4:00 PM at the funeral home.
