Lois Diehl Bostic, 90, died peacefully in her sleep on March 25, 2022 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Lois was born July 18, 1931 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania to parents William Charles Diehl and Bessie Rhoades Diehl. She was raised alongside her late brother Harry R. Diehl of DeSoto, Texas. Lois was predeceased by all of her brothers- and sisters-in-law. The recent passing of her brother-in-law, Walter Bostic, made Lois the sole survivor of her generation of the Bostic family for a few short weeks.
Lois lived a joyous life with a notable appreciation of family values. She married the love of her life, the late James Bennett Bostic, on Dec. 27, 1952. During their 56 years of marriage until his death in 2009, Lois supported Jim through veterinary school and the opening of his own veterinary clinic. Lois and Jim shared a love of animals as evidenced by the many furry and feathered friends they rescued throughout their lives. Honorable mentions include 15-Cent the chicken, cats Cali and Bootsie, and Yorkies Midge, Jody and Dottie. After their retirement, Lois and Jim traveled extensively, making lasting memories all around the globe. Close friends of Lois described her as a tenacious woman determined to raise a strong, cohesive family (pets included).
Lois Bostic is survived by her four sons, William B. Bostic, Robert C. Bostic and wife Maria Mills, David A. Bostic and fiancée Shelley Hunter, and Donald W. Bostic and his wife Nicole, all of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren, Rebecca and Ben Derwent, Megan, Dylan, Raegan, Derek and Jonathan Bostic.
Family and friends are invited to join a graveside memorial service on April 7th at 3 pm at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk, VA. A celebration of life will be held at Westminster-Canterbury, 3100 Shore Drive Virginia Beach, VA in the Anderson Bayview Room the same day at 4 pm. Chaplain Jennifer Spivey will preside over both services. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Lois Bostic’s name to the Virginia Beach SPCA (www.vbspca.com/honors-and-memorials/).
