

Marcus P. Joyner, 90, passed away on June 15, 2011. He was born October 21, 1920, in Bertie Co. North Carolina, and was a WW II veteran of the U. S. Navy in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 327, and a retired employee of the Naval Air Rework Facility in Norfolk, VA. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ruth O. Joyner; and is survived by a son, Charles P. Joyner and his wife Kerri, of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Cynthia Joyner Micklos and her husband Glenn Micklos, of Chesapeake; and five grandchildren, Katie Marie Joyner, and Cody Michael Joyner of Virginia Beach; Alyssa Kristin Bull, Mitchell Glenn Micklos and Connor Dylan Micklos, of Chesapeake, Virginia. He is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Butler, of Dewitt, Virginia, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and relatives at Woodlawn Funeral Home 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA, on Friday, June 17, between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 18, in Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel.
