Mrs. Marie Todd Bailey

Marie Todd Bailey joined her Lord and Savior on July 27, 2023, a couple days past her 95th birthday. Marie was born on July 25, 1928 in Bessemer, Alabama to the late William B. and Audie Nicholls Todd. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Charlotte Fairley and her loving husband of over 67 years, Leon David Bailey. Marie was a faithful member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church for the past 66 years. Over the years she taught many Sunday School classes, served on numerous committees, was a member of the Sanctuary and Joy Singer choirs, and taught GA’s. Marie also spent many years serving both at the local and state level of Virginia as an active leader and director of the Women’s Missionary Union. She loved to travel with Leon. Together they traveled to all 50 states, enjoying 49 of them in their motor home. They also enjoyed traveling to Europe. Marie was a loving, caring, kind and encouraging mother, mother-in-law, grandma and great-grandma. Also known as Gigi.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons and daughter in laws, David and Rhonda Bailey and James and Debbie Bailey; grandchildren, Shayne and Becky Fairley, Brody Bailey, Ashleigh and Warren O'Hara, Candice and Kevin Warren, and Caitlin and Jeff Snyder; great grandchildren, Jaden Hall, Ashton Bailey, Noah Fairley, Charlotte O’Hara, Andie Snyder, Tommy O’Hara, Bradley Warren, Luke Fairley and Emma Snyder.

The family invites friends for a time of visitation on Monday, July 31, 2023 from 10 am – 12 noon at Thalia Lynn Baptist Church, 4392 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach. A service to celebrate her life will begin at 12 noon following the visitation. She will be privately laid to rest beside her husband at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
