Mary Jane Daniels entered into eternal rest on February 4th, 2023 at Rosemount Health and Rehabilitation in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was born on June 24th, 1932 in Halifax County North Carolina to the late Joe Billie Coppedge and Dollie Johnson.
After Mary Jane graduated from McIver High School in Littleton North Carolina, she moved to Washington D.C. where she was united in matrimony to the late Lemiah Lee and was later blessed with the birth of their daughter Diane. She worked at the Sheraton Hotel in housekeeping for many years. Then went on to manufacture barbie dolls with Mattel. Mary Jane accepted God in her life and joined the Second New Saint Paul Baptist Church as a faithful member. She immediately became involved with their Helping Hand club where she was dedicated to enhancing the lives of others. Her marriage ended with Lemiah and they remained connected through family.
She relocated to Norfolk, Virginia where she met and married Ruben Graham Daniels on June 16th, 1984. Together they owned a corner store, where they grew to know many people amongst the community. Mary Jane was also an avid gardener, who had two green thumbs with a lush and well maintained garden. She didn't mind sharing her often abundant harvest. Whether it was tomatoes as vibrant as her personality or Peonies as sweet as her smile, she always gave from her heart. Mary was a devoted wife who enjoyed the many joys of marriage filled with love, laughter and the fondest of memories until Ruben departed his life in 2006.
She was preceded in death by Helen Harris, Pattie Young, Emma Bachelor, Joe Coppedge, Doretha Webster, and Walter Coppedge. Mary Jane Daniels leaves to honor her life and cherish her memory, her daughter, Diane (Tom) and granddaughter, Tiffany Faith Hanson, both of New Hampshire. Two sisters, Angie Owens of North Plainfield, New Jersey and Marie Coppage of Virginia Beach, Virginia as well as nieces and nephews from her family and her extended family.
