

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary "Daphne" DuPont (Jenkins), who departed this life after a long battle with Alzheimer's on January 2, 2026, at the age of 88. Daphne was born on May 11, 1937, in Aulander, NC.
Daphne is survived by her daughters Cindy DeLucenay, husband Keith; Brenda Sheridan, husband Brian; and son Christopher DuPont, husband Mickey Ferreira. Affectionately known as “Maw-Maw,” she was blessed with three grandchildren: Adam DeLucenay, wife Beth, and two great-grandsons, Jackson and Noah DeLucenay; Granddaughter Bridgette Sheridan Hall, wife Ashley Hall; and grandson Craig Sheridan, wife Stephanie, and two great-grandsons, Knox and Levi Sheridan. Daphne is predeceased by husband Herman DuPont, mother and father Burleigh and Edna Jenkins and brothers Jack and John Jenkins.
We bid farewell to a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was the proud wife of GySgt. Herman P. DuPont who retired from the US Marine Corps in 1971. Daphne was a proud member of the Ladies Club at Immaculate Conception Chapel as well as a member of the Norview Band Parents' Association for several years. While attending high school, she was a school bus driver, a movie ticket seller, and a choir member. Daphne graduated from Hick's Beauty Academy in Norfolk which is where she met her soon-to-be-husband, Herman. Daphne and Herman loved spending time with their grandchildren attending sporting and theater events. She was fortunate to have four young great-grandsons in her last years.
Daphne's kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family will never be forgotten. A celebration mass will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 154 W Government Ave Norfolk 23503 with Father Charles Manugera, with a viewing one hour before the mass. The graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk after the mass service. Immediately after the graveside service, the family will receive guests at the American Legion Tidewater Post 327, 705 Lesner Ave, Norfolk 23518. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Daphne will be truly missed by all.
