Knotts Island, NC Matthew Lee Burnette, 25, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009 as a result of an motor vehicle accident on Seaboard Road in Virginia Beach. Matthew attended The Church of New Beginnings. He is survived by his parents, Coley Lee and Robin Burnette of Knotts Island, NC., a brother, Michael Shane Burnette, Currituck, N.C.,and a sister, Billie Mae Burnette of Knotts Island, NC.. Paternal grandmother, Margaret "Fanny" Burnette and his Maternal grandparents, Robert and Joyce Manning of Virginia Beach. Two nieces, Summer and Angelina Burnette and his long time girlfriend Megan Lange and her daugther, Allie. Matthew also leaves numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many, many friends who will miss him. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, Va.. A service of rememberance will be conducted 2 PM Friday in the Knotts Island United Methodist Church with interment in the Knotts Island Cemetery.
