Miriam K. Oden, 83, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 24, 2008. Miriam, lovingly known as Penny, was owner of Penny's Barber Shop in Virginia Beach for over 30 years. Miriam was a member of First Baptist Church in Norfolk for 40 years and was active in Thursday bible class and the Missionary Circle.
Miriam leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband of 48 years, Orange Oden, and three nieces; JoAnn Taylor (Robert) of New York, Barbara Gibbs of Connecticut and Carol Henderson (Joseph) of Massachusetts.
A celebration of Miriam’s life officiated by Dr. Robert Murray will be conducted at a 12:00 p.m. graveside service on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 Virginia Beach Blvd. from 11:00-12:00 p.m prior to the graveside service.
