

Norman A. Fortin, Sr. passed away in his home on April 2, 2025. Norman was born to the late Arthur and Rhea Fortin in Turners Falls, MA. “Frog” as he was known by his friends retired from the US Navy after 20 years as an engineman, proudly serving in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He then continued his career for 17 years at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a diesel mechanic. In retirement he continued to work for Eddie’s Bus Service. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, racing his scooter in the neighborhood, and meals at Cracker Barrel. He loved his Peanut Butter M&M’s and Chips Ahoy Cookies!
During Norman’s 97 years with us, he was loved by many who predeceased him in death including his parents, Arthur and Rhea Fortin, his first wife, Vina LaForm, second wife, Loretta Fortin, grandson, Christopher, bonus son, Rod Williams, and 7 siblings. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Betty Fortin, children Donald Fortin (Liz), Beth Trudell (Pete), Esther Fuller (Bill), James Fortin, Rhea Smith (Jerry), Norman A. Fortin, Jr (Angelina) and bonus daughter Christy Jennings; Grand kids, Rachel, Christopher, Alison, Will, Mike, Jennifer, John, Rebecca, Crystal, Christopher, Josh, Steven, Jessica, and Natalee; 8 great grand kids, and 5 great-great grand kids, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
On May 12, 2025 at 11 AM a graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23502 followed by a Celebration of Life at Jolliff United Methodist Church, 1900 Jolliff Road, Chesapeake, VA 23321 at 1PM. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to one of the following organizations in his name: Tunnels to Towers, Disabled American Veterans, or the Humane Society.
