Norris T. Bartlett

Norris Burnette Tyner Bartlett, 92, passed away on March 25, 2016. She was born on August 16, 1923 to the late Mary L. and George W. Tyner in Boykins, Southhampton County, Virginia. She was the second oldest of six children, and she was an active caretaker in the raising of her younger siblings. Her husband of 46 years, Robert L. Bartlett, preceded her in death. She was retired from Norfolk City Public Schools. Since 1956, Norris was a very active member, teacher, and manager at Miles Memorial United Methodist Church in Norfolk, VA .

She is survived by her oldest son Rob Bartlett, and his wife, Donna of Crofton, MD; and by her youngest son, Brad Bartlett, and his wife, Dorathy of Agoura Hills, California, and by her sister, Mary Rose Tyner Glaubke of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and by her grandchildren: Brian Bartlett, Jessica Bartlett, Alexandra Bartlett, and Victoria Bartlett. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who live all across the United States.

A visitation will be held on Saturday April 2, 2016 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, 818 Norview Ave., Norfolk VA 23509. A private burial will follow at the Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery at 1549 Holland Road in Suffolk VA.
