Paul Garrett Langford, 74 passed away peacefully to be with Jesus with his loving family with him at his home on February 4, 2023. Born in Norfolk, VA on February 24, 1948, he was preceded in death by his parents, Fonzo Langford and Virginia Louise Garrett Langford and his brother, Donald W. Langford. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dolores Baker Langford and his three daughters Amy Lynn Hensley, Nancy Rebecca Musgrave (Steve) and Cathy Diane Braddy, as well as seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Robert B. (Petey) Langford. Mr. Langford graduated in 1966 from Norview High School in Norfolk VA. He attended Old Dominion University for one year until he was accepted into the Apprenticeship Program at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth VA in 1967. He graduated the program on the Dean’s List in 1972 was employed as a machinist. He moved in to the position of Planning and Estimating at Norfolk Naval Ship Yard and then as a Cost/Price Analyst at Newport News Shipbuilding, Newport News, VA. In 1991 Mr. Langford started in project management in the position of Type Desk Supervisor at COMNAVSURFLANT until 2006 when he retired. During his career with the U.S. Government, Mr. Langford earned several awards for his achievements and cost reduction suggestions. Upon retirement, he was awarded the very prestigious Meritorious Civilian Service Award. After retiring he started a position at QED Systems Inc. as a Planner and Estimator, was promoted to Supervisor Planner and Estimator and then later became a Quality Assurance Supervisor. Paul was an avid fisherman and loved classic cars. He was a wonderful, very intelligent, loving Christian man who was well liked by all who met him. He was a family man to the full definition and his greatest joy in his life was his family and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Words will never express how much he is loved and will forever be missed by those who were part of his life. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Woodlawn Cemetery, 6309 E. Virginia Beach Boulevard, Norfolk, VA 23502. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Union Mission at www.unionmissionministries.org or Augusta Military Academy Museum at www.amaalumni.org.
