She was born in Camiling, Tarlac on February 24, 1948, into the loving home of Nemesia and Silvino Martin. She shared her childhood with her younger sister and best friend, Velma. She was an outstanding student, often finishing at the top of the class in grade school. Her father passed while she was a child and she took on many responsibilities of the house to help her mother to whom she was unconditionally devoted. As a young woman, she was a light of the town. She was captain of ROTC and modeled at fashion shows and pageants. At town fiestas, she often was crowned “Most Charming Lady Of The Night.” She graduated from college with a degree in education, aspiring to be a teacher. She even got a head start by teaching at an elementary school for 2 years while in college.
Her plans to teach were put on hold when she met her future husband, my father, Salvador Pastor. Together, they had four children which they brought to America for an opportunity at a brighter future. She was the best mom, keeping her family loved, protected, and provided for. Today, we are all thriving because of her. When she was not being a mom, she thoroughly enjoyed taking care of animals and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will live through her husband, children, friends, and extended family who were all inspired by her selflessness and joy. We will miss you very much Mom and will always love you.
