

He leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Helen; son Gary (Mary), daughter Gayle, four grandchildren Heather Greenhaw, Gary Hardy, Jr., Jennifer Fournier and Ashley Hardy along with three great grandchildren, John Greenhaw, Clay Walker and Faye Hardy.
A lifelong Norfolkian, Buddy as he was known, dedicated his life to service. His world revolved around God, his family and his Country.
He served six years in Patton’s Army during WW II; he was a member of Fairmount Park UMC for 67 years; was a Boy Scout Leader and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. He worked decades for Exxon and was retired from Miller Oil Co.
Buddy was a loving husband and a wonderful father and grandfather. He was dedicated to his family and led by example. He will be missed by many, but his leadership, love and kindness lives on.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Williams, Norfolk Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery by The Rev. Linda S. Young.
