

Randolph Williams, Sr., husband, father, grandfather, godfather, great grandfather, brother, cousin, friend and mentor, departed his earthly remains on May 12, 2018, and now rests in the arms of a just and merciful God.
Born February 20, 1933, he was the son of the late Andrew and Janie Kelly Williams of Darlington, South Carolina. As a graduate from Mayo High School Class of 1952, he excelled in football and track and was inducted in the Mayo High School Hall of Fame in 1999. Following, he served 23 years in the U.S. Army as a master sergeant where he did two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. While serving, he received two bronze medals. Playing football in the U.S. Army and overseas, he earned the nickname “The Claw.” His military service allowed for extensive travel to Alaska, Korea, Iceland and Japan being amongst his favorites. He took pride in speaking the Japanese language. He later retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a general foreman. During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, family and friends. His favorite destination was Dover Downs Casino. He also enjoyed gardening, babysitting his special grandchildren and celebrating his favorite holiday, Christmas. He was an Associate Member of the Ft. Eustis and the Ft. Story Retirees Alumni Association and a member of the Fernwood Farms Civic League.
He was united in holy matrimony to Shirley M. Williams on September 14, 1963; they celebrated 46 years of marriage together. He is predeceased by his loving wife Shirley and siblings Andrew Williams, Martha Daniels, Hattie Williams, Edith Smith and John Williams.
He is survived by five children: Robin M. Patterson (Andrew), Reshea Neal, Maxie Neal, Sheila Allbritton (Samuel) and Randolph Williams, Jr.; grandchildren, Dezarae Allbritton, Nicholas Allbritton (Shamaine); and one great granddaughter, Amaray Allbritton. Five “special” grandchildren, Mariah Young, Miranda Young, Kendall Gray, Kevin Benson and Milena Seberry. Siblings, Clarence Williams (Peggy) and Joyce Williams. Special friend, Lucille Sawyer. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
