He was born in Norfolk, VA on August 6, 1935, the son of the late Melvin and Laura
Wedeman. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Doris Parker Wedeman. Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Richard “Dickie” Wedeman, Jr. and his wife, Angela, Tracy Wedeman and his wife, Rhonda; his grandchildren, Jessica Wedeman (Raleigh, NC), Perry Byrum and wife, Kristin (Concord, NC), Clay Byrum and fiancé, Lauren Hickok (Chesapeake), Shannon Fields and husband, Christopher Fields (Moyock, NC) and Ryan Kytelyn and wife, Sari (Longwood, FL); and great grandchildren, Penelope “Penny” Wedeman (Raleigh), and Bodie Kytelyn (Longwood, FL); his sister, Laura Etheridge; and extended family and friends.
Richard was a lifelong member of the Norfolk Moose Lodge, a Cadillac guy, Redskins fan, and a firm believer in the motto “work hard, play hard”. His hobbies included traveling the world, especially vacationing in the Outer Banks, and spending time with his friends and loved ones.
One of his greatest accomplishments was being a founding partner of Allied Heating and Air Conditioning in Virginia Beach, which he ran alongside his wife and sons, from 1970 to 2014.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from 6-8 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 2 PM in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6309 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA.
