

Robert “Bob” W Triplett Jr, 93, of Virginia Beach, VA passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2018. He was born in Blowing Rock, North Carolina June 30, 1924 to the late Robert W Triplett and Metta Weaver Triplett. He is also predeceased by siblings Terrence, Paul and Nell Freeman. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years Hilda Collins Triplett in 2009.
He graduated from Blowing rock High School in 1942 and entered the Army the same year serving in the South Pacific as a radar technician during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Sergeant.
He was a member of Plaza Baptist Church for many years.
He was a retired Construction Superintendent from the Joseph S Floyd Corporation and prior to that he was a Custom Home Builder with his older brother Terrence.
He was the founding member, bass singer and manager of the Londonaires Quartet a southern gospel quartet formed in 1960 actively performing and presenting the gospel for over 42 years. The group had many members through the years which also included his son Jeff and grandson Rob. While active they traveled to many states in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and as far west as Nashville, TN performing at the National Quartet Convention in 1984. Throughout the eighties and nineties, the group performed at many churches and concert venues in addition to several TV appearances and also completing several recording projects before retiring in 2002. Singing always brought real enjoyment to Bob.
He is survived by two children, Deborah Hall of Virginia Beach, Jeff Triplett, wife Chris Triplett, three grandsons, Rob Schieber, girlfriend Carla Grigg both of Chesapeake, Josh Kimm, fiancé Sarah Bogue both of Norfolk, Bryan Triplett, wife Nicole and one great granddaughter Brynn Rae Triplett.
