Dad was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Frances E. Murray and two sons, James D. Murray and Robert W. Murray and his two brothers and sister.

Dad is survived by two sons, R. Dale Murray, Jr. and wife Brenda, Kenneth A. Murray and wife Debra, both from Virginia Beach; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Dad was born on February 26, 1920 in Rhodes, Michigan where he spent his early years. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor he enlisted in the U.S. Navy on December 11, 1941 and served his country until his discharge on October 8, 1945. He then went to work at the Naval Air Reworks Facility and worked there until his retirement on December 23, 1976.

Dad was a caring honest and hard working individual who would always be their when someone had a project that they needed help on. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and his yard was his favorite pastime.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 11, 2012, from 6-8pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Norfolk, VA. A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
