Ronald was born on November 5, 1952 to Reginald David and Remedios Caoile VeRell in Richmond, Virginia.
Ronald graduated from Curry High School in Greensboro, North Carolina, in 1970.
In 1973, the family relocated to Virginia Beach, Virginia. He and his father worked in the furniture business for a few years, and then in 1979, Ronald started working as a shipfitter at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Ronald spent his career at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, retiring in 2009.
In 1982, Ronald married the love of his life, Deborah Jane Nance. They were married for 31 years, until her passing in 2013.
Ronald had a variety of hobbies. He was a true “car guy”. He loved working on cars, cleaning cars, and would never miss a good car show. He also ran a limousine service in the 1990s.
In retirement, Ronald volunteered at a variety of churches, as well as the Aviation Museum. He played keyboard in a band with his close friends.
Ronald was predeceased by his father, Reginald David VeRell; his mother, Remedios Caoile VeRell and his wife, Deborah Nance VeRell. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer VeRell Rawls and his son-in-law Michael McClellan Rawls.
There will be a visitation on Monday, June 28, 2021 from 6-8 pm and a funeral service on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 10 am.
