Ruth P Martin

October 30, 1931 – July 22, 2025

Ruth is now home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Ruth was a native of Hinton, West Virginia, the daughter of late Robert G and Marie A Pack. Ruth was pre-deceased by her husband, Sidney A. Martin Sr. in August of 2023.

Ruth dedicated herself to her family and lived her life unto The Lord. She attended and received her business certificate from Bob Jones University and married Sidney in 1955. Together, they raised their two children in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Bristol Virginia. Ruth taught Sunday School when her children were young, sang in the choir, was President of PTA and was involved in Bible studies.

In 1985, Ruth and Sidney moved to Norfolk, Virginia where she was the Office Manager for Virginia Carolina Steel Inc., their family business. Ruth became an active member of Kempsville Baptist Church and Kempsville Greens Civic League in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Survivors include son, Alan (Linda); daughter, Sherry (Leo); three grandchildren, Joe (Amanda), Kyle (Lindsey) and Leo Martin (Danielle).

Ruth loved to spend time with her family, cook, bake, paint and sing. Her songs will live in our hearts until we see her again, at which time we will join in singing praises together.

The Funeral service for Ruth will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 12 noon at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk. The family would like to invite guests to join them for a time of visitation an hour prior to the service. Ruth will be privately laid to rest beside her husband Sidney in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
