Stella Lillian Godbey

Stella was born in Chesapeake, Virginia on December 6, 1965 to her parents, Ernest Deen “Red” Burns and Jewel Christal Burns and graduated from Deep Creek High School. Stella was a supportive military wife and homemaker, taking care of her family all her life. She was an avid Nascar fan who was sure to watch the race every week. Although her favorite animal was the panda bear, her love for animals welcomed many cats and dogs into the family over the years. Stella loved her family and the highlight of her day was visiting with her grandchildren.

She is survived her husband of 37 years, Jason Godbey; three daughters, Christal Griffin (Wesley), Kimberly Broderick (James), and Victoria Godbey; six grandchildren she adored, Raven Griffin, Daniel Key, Ethan Godbey, Noah Broderick, Gracelyn Broderick and Maddie Griffin; sister Mary Anne Smith and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday January 22, 2024 at Noon at Burrows Memorial Baptist Church, 1539 Johnstons Rd. Norfolk, Virginia 23518.
