Vernon Ayers Bonney Jr.

Vernon A. Bonney Jr., 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 23rd with his family by his side. Vernon was born May 25, 1944 in Norfolk, VA. He is pre-deceased by his father, Vernon A. Bonney, and his mother Doris G. Bonney. He is survived by his daughter, Dori Anne Vanderslice (husband Sam); his son, Vernon Ayers Bonney III (wife Diana); his three grandchildren, Sammy (12), Kayden (7), Monroe (2); as well as his two brothers, Craig Bonney and Keith Bonney; and many cousins. Vernon was an Army Veteran, having served six years in the United States Army. Following his military service, he held a career in Drafting & CAD Design for an Engineering firm in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He ultimately retired in 2008. Vernon was a man who always showed his unconditional love for his children, family and friends. He enjoyed watching sports on television and attending Tide’s games at Harbor Park. He fought his battle against cancer without ever making a complaint. The graveside memorial service for Vernon A. Bonney Jr. will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk, VA on Tuesday, May 4th at 11:00am. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff at Virginia Beach Health and Rehab Center, Heartland Hospice, The Law Office of Angela Manz, as well as Virginia Beach General Hospital.
