

Will was born on April 13, 1936 in Greenville, North Carolina to the late David and Stella Bowers. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret R. Bowers; daughters, Dawn L. Starling and Constance L. Halleen; son, Paul K. Coe, Jr. and his wife Carla; granddaughter, Brittany M. Pheifer and husband Joshua; grandson, Shawn P. Coe; granddaughter, Kayla Coe; grandson, Alexander M. Halleen; and four great grandchildren.
Will served in the United States Army followed by a successful career as a federal civil servant for the Department of the Navy. In the late 1960’s, Will was involved in the first efforts to provide an Automatic Data Processing capability to the U.S. Navy fleet, both ashore and at sea. His early work was on the Ocean Surveillance Information System, a system that collected data from a wide variety of sources and compiled it into usable information for ships and headquarters commands. After 40 years of increasing responsibility, Will retired in 1994 as the Director of the Ship Non-tactical ADP Processing (SNAP I) system that supported supply, logistics and maintenance Navy-wide.
After his retirement, he and Margaret enjoyed traveling with family and friends, taking cruises, skiing, golfing, and white water rafting. Will was an avid golfer and especially enjoyed playing golf with his good friends at the Greenbrier Country Club.
Will was deeply loved and will be missed by his family and friends. His family will receive friends at a memorial service held on Thursday, December 6, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23502.
