

Willie Lue Hines departed this earthly life at the age of 82 on Sunday, February 11, 2018. She was the wife of James Alonza Hines for 60 years. They built their lives and their home together in Norfolk, Virginia.
Willie Lue Hines was born to Grant and Annie Gilliam on July 24, 1935 in Windsor, North Carolina. At an early age, she joined and became an active member of Indian Woods Missionary Baptist Church. She was a faithful and active member for 15 years and served on the Usher Board for many years. Willie Lue graduated from W.S. Etheridge High School Windsor North Carolina in 1954.
After graduation, she moved to Norfolk and joined the Woodland Avenue Baptist Church serving as an active member for more than 30 years. She and James were married on December 22, 1957. Willie Lue worked at the Naval Air Supply Station for 26 years until retiring on January 4, 1994.
Willie Lue lived an eventful and happy life, characterizing her unwavering commitment to God, family and friends. She was a faithful Christian who believed strongly in the Word of God. She was also a devoted wife, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, an aunt, a cousin, and a great friend to many others.
Willie Lue leaves behind a legacy of goodwill, strength, wisdom, knowledge and love. She was predeceased by her parents Grant Gilliam, II and Annie Margaret Gilliam. Also predeceased by seven siblings; George W. Gilliam, Christine Ricks, Henry W. Gilliam, Rascoe A. Gilliam, Robert B. Gilliam, Charles L. Gilliam, and Ernell P. Gilliam.
Willie Lue is survived by her husband James, children Erroll Hines (Regina) of Kingwood, Texas and Glynis Hines Abdallah (Mohamed) of Kirkland, WA., two grandsons Dylan Hines and Barack Abdallah, two siblings Margaret Hyman and Grant Gilliam, III (Ruby), sister in laws Bernice Gilliam, Wanda Hines (James) and Sherry Robinson (Lawrence). Brother in laws Maurice Hines (Michelle) and Rodney Hines along with several nieces, nephews, countless cousins, friends and co-workers.
