

Anna Mae was born in Norman on June 14, 1921 to James Washington Deskin and Georgie Janes Deskin. She was pre-deceased by her parents and step-mother Jane Talley Deskin and sisters Wilma Deskin Alexander, Martha Deskin Riley VanFleet and Lena Deskin Talley, and a step-brother William (Bill) Frank Deskin. She was a 1939 graduate of Norman High School. Following high school she moved to Shidler, Oklahoma to live with her aunt and uncle while she attended Junior College.
Upon returning to Norman, she started dating a young man she “had her eyes on” during high school. She married Vernon (Bud) Lee Foree in El Reno, Oklahoma in 1942. He died December 1, 1990. She and Vernon built their own home in 1966, were meticulous gardeners, and were avid fishermen who especially enjoyed their trips to the Texas Gulf Coast. They were “second parents” to many of their beloved nieces.
Anna Mae worked with Southwestern Bell, TG&Y, and retired from a long career as a bank teller at Norman’s Security Bank.
Her second marriage in August of 1993 was to James Eaves whom she met at the First Baptist Church. Their wedding was a double ceremony with Anna’s sister Martha Mozelle to Glen Van Fleet.
Anna Mae enjoyed her church, her dear friends, traveling and her loving family. She was the aunt to Glenda Pritchett Slaughter and her husband Arris Slaughter of Shreveport , Louisiana and Marilyn Talley Rains of Jenks and their children and grandchildren: Chuck and Roberta Jones of Pineville, Louisiana, Rachel and Grant; Martie and Mike Hampton of Frisco, Texas, Hannah, Nicholas and Brandon; Matthew and Angie Rains of Tulsa, Coleman and Katie; and Brad Rains of Los Angeles.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law Elizabeth Ann Cawthorne and husband Chuck of La Quinta, California and her “granddaughter of the heart” Gena Welborn and her husband Eric. Her Deskin family nieces and nephews are Paul and Liz Deskin, Blanchard, Oklahoma; Karl Deskin, Springfield, Missouri; Sandy and Mike Larson, Lenexa, Kansas; Kathy and Kevin Startt. Tucson, Arizona; Gywenne Wagoner, Glendale, Arizona; Susan Hanks, Glendale, Arizona; and Beverly Augenstein, Cottonwood, Arizona.
Services celebrating Anna Mae’s life is Thursday, May 3, 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Norman. Viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, May 2 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Primrose Funeral Service. Pallbearers are Matthew Rains, Paul Deskin, Eric Welborn and Matthew Welborn. Honorary Pallbearers are Brad Rains, Coleman Rains, Chuck Jones, Chuck Cawthorne and Allen Hardesty.
The family of Anna Mae wishes to thank the many wonderful people from Rambling Oaks, Brookhaven Skilled Nursing, First Baptist Church and Encompass Home Health who provided special care for her these last few months. To those who were a part of her life, a special thank you for loving “our Annie.”
