(1934 - 2015)
Anne Bernadette Rita Teubert Kelleher was born July 31, 1934, in Providence, Rhode Island, to Bertha and Bernard J. Teubert.
Anne graduated from St. Xavier's Academy where she earned numerous awards for her academic achievements and her contributions to the school newspaper. She was also an avid piano player.
After graduating, she joined New England Telephone & Telegraph (now AT&T) as an Operator. She married Leo E. Kelleher, who was also an employee of AT&T, and together they had two sons. As a result of many promotions within AT&T, the family moved frequently, living in Rhode Island, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland and New Jersey.
Anne and her family settled in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, where she was an active member of the Newcomers Club, PTA and various bridge clubs. Later, Anne re-entered the workforce, initially as an office manager for a large orthodontic practice. She subsequently rejoined AT&T as a Director-level Executive Assistant and relocated to Morristown, New Jersey.
After retiring from AT&T, Anne moved to Norman, Oklahoma, to be closer to her son Kevin and his family. While in Norman, she was active in the Newcomers Club and Ex Libris Book Club, where she served as President.
She was raised Catholic and was active in several churches in Basking Ridge as well as McFarlin Methodist Church in Norman.
On October 4, 2015, Anne succumbed to a rare disease called Goodpasture's Syndrome, which attacks the kidneys and lungs. She passed peacefully at Norman Regional Hospital.
The word most often used to describe Anne was "kind." She devoted her life to raising her family and helping those in need. Her trademark smile always welcomed friends, new and old. She kept smiling and thanking all who supported her in her struggle right up to the end. She will be dearly missed by all those who had the good fortune to know her.
She is survived by her two sons, Kevin E. Kelleher (Debbie), long time resident of Norman, Oklahoma currently living in Erie, Colorado, and Brian S. Kelleher (Laura), of Del Mar, California; her grandchildren, Shane M. Kelleher and Braden E. Kelleher, both of Norman, and Chloe I. Kelleher, of Del Mar; her two brothers, Bernard J. Teubert, Jr. (Nancy), of New Bern, North Carolina, and Thomas Teubert (Chele), of Punta Gorda, Florida; her sister, Paula Jernigan (Wiley) of Dendron, Virginia; sixteen nieces and nephews, and five godchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, October 9, at McFarlin Methodist Church, located at 419 S. University Blvd., in Norman. Burial services will be held on October 24, at Saint Ann's Cemetery in Cranston, Rhode Island.
In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting making donations to the ReMend Foundation in Anne's name. ReMend is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting those with end-stage renal disease. Details can be found at SdReMend.org.
