Brenda Darlene McCormick

Brenda graduated from Lone Wolf High School and went on to live in many places throughout her life, including California, Puerto Rico, Michigan, and Texas, before finally settling in Norman in 2007. On September 9, 1977, she married the love of her life, Billy Dale “Smokey” McCormick.

Brenda had a quiet but rich appreciation for the small joys of everyday life. She loved reading and working crossword puzzles, and she especially enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels outside her kitchen window. She also delighted in shopping trips and never missed an opportunity to watch professional wrestling.

Those who knew Brenda will remember the lessons she shared, lessons about strength, speaking up for oneself and for others, and living with generosity and kindness. Above all, Brenda loved her family deeply and unconditionally.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Max Winters; and her sister-in-law, Sandra.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband Billy “Smokey” dale McCormick of Norman, Oklahoma, her daughters, Michelle (Chris) Eddington of Newark, Texas, and Shara (Micheal) Schane of Newcastle, Oklahoma; her brother, Glayde (Mary) Winters of Irving, Texas; and her four beloved grandchildren.

Brenda’s family and friends will forever hold her strength, compassion, and loving spirit close to their hearts.
