Brett was born to the late Bobby Joe and Gayle Anderson in Norman, OK where he attended Norman High School (1991), graduated from the University of Oklahoma and then continued with his Masters at Kansas State and his PHD in geography from the University of Kansas. He went on to become a professor at Eastern Illinois University.
Brett loved the outdoors; spending time near the Canejos River in Colorado with his brother Scott, kayaking, hiking, and walking his furry friend Midnight. He enjoyed music and kept up to date with the latest college bands, always suggesting new artists to his friends. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering (yelling at the TV) for the Sooners, Texas Rangers, and held season tickets to EIU basketball.
Although his life was short, he made an impact on countless friends, family, and students (there was no skating by in Mr. Anderson’s class).
A private celebration of life will be held for friends and family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Wilderness Society.
