Cheryl Kay Snelson, age 72, went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2020. She was born on December 7, 1948 in Norman, OK to John Earl and Ada Lee Reed. She was a graduate of Norman High School in 1967.
An incredible mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She loved her family and friends fiercely, and was always there when anyone needed her. She always put God first, and loved Christ with all of her heart. She was a proud member of New Life Bible Church.
Cheryl was a passionate Oklahoma Sooners fan, and enjoyed attending many games and events including the weekly Sooner Coaches Show hosted by Toby Rowland and Teddy Lehman. She never missed a football game whether it be attending in person or watching from home, and often attended Sooner basketball and baseball games as well. She also enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys.
Cheryl had so many wonderful experiences during her lifetime. She was a member of the Norman High School pep squad, and as a teenager, she worked for KOMA which allowed her the opportunity to meet popular bands such as The Beatles, The Zombies, and Herman's Hermits. Over the years, she loved to travel and visit many places. She enjoyed taking road trips with family and friends, as well as going on Caribbean and Alaskan cruises. One of her favorite trips included a drive to Eureka Springs where she attended the Great Passion Play.
Cheryl always had a smile on her face and loved to find ways to make people laugh. She loved to garden, and always had a space in her heart for her pets and any animals she would come across. She loved her real estate career and joined Keller Williams Mulinix in January 1999 where she truly enjoyed making a difference in the lives of others over the years. She had a giving spirit and loved to serve others, and often prayed to God to instill in her a servant’s heart. She frequently volunteered her time as a chaplain for Norman Regional Hospital, providing comfort and prayers to many patients.
Cheryl left this world peacefully and surrounded by family. For those of us she has left behind, our lives will never be the same, but we will be forever grateful for the time we were blessed to spend with her.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her children, John Day and wife, Rhonda, her daughter, Cyndee Agee and husband, Mark, her grandchildren, Brittany Jupe and husband, Daniel, Jessica Edington and husband, Gavin, and Brandon Agee, as well as her brother, Douglas Reed and sister, Joan Mueller. She also leaves behind nephews, nieces and many more loved ones.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday, December 16 from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday, December 17 from 4-8 p.m. at Primrose Funeral Home, 1109 N. Porter Ave, Norman, OK. Due to the pandemic, family-only services will be held on Friday, December 18 at 10 a.m. and will be live-streamed via the link on Cheryl's tribute page at www.dignitymemorial.com. In lieu of flowers, Cheryl’s family asks that donations be made to New Life Bible Church (nlbc.org) in her memory.
