Darlene was born on September 19, 1950, in Eunice, New Mexico, to M.D. Hardy and Marjorie Jean (Anderson) Sanders. In 1960, she moved with her family to Norman, Oklahoma, where she would build a life filled with love and deep community ties. She graduated from high school in 1968 and, shortly thereafter, on June 1, 1968, married the love of her life, Air Force veteran John Edward Hart. Together, they shared 57 beautiful years of marriage, raising their two daughters, Shauna and Kerensa, and creating a home centered on love and family.
Darlene devoted much of her life to caring for others. She was a dedicated stay-at-home mother and lovingly helped care for her nieces and nephews. She later shared her creativity as a florist at Lee James Florist and went on to serve as the International Quality Manager at United Design in Noble, Oklahoma. Even after retirement, her nurturing spirit continued as she lovingly cared for her three grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.
Darlene found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved listening to country music, classic hits from the 1950s, and especially the music of Elvis Presley. She enjoyed cross-stitch, flower arranging, gardening, and reading, but above all, she cherished time spent with her family. She instilled in them the values of unconditional love, caring for one another, and, of course, how to never lose a game of spades. Her warmth, strength, and sense of humor will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
She was preceded in death by her father, M.D. Hardy; her mother, Marjorie Jean Sanders; her stepfather, O.D. Sanders; and her brother, Jim Hardy.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her devoted husband, John Edward Hart of the home; her daughters, Shauna Blake of Noble, Oklahoma, and Kerensa Sturgell and her fiancé, Cory Cooper, also of Noble, Oklahoma; her sisters, Phyllis Jean Remington and husband Jerry of Beggs, Oklahoma, and Debra Ann Morrison and husband Rick of Norman, Oklahoma; her beloved grandchildren, Broeden Sturgell, Jaedence Sturgell, and Sean Blake; her precious great-granddaughter, Isabella Blake; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Darlene’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to family, a legacy that will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her.
