Delbert Wesley Stroud

Mr. Stroud was born October 15, 1951, in Pecos, Texas, to Paul Vernon and Pauline Ethel (Clay) Stroud.

Mr. Stroud was in the Marine Corp for 3 years and after serving his country, spent the bulk of his adult life as a truck driver. He loved being out on the open road and was affectionately known as “Big John” and “Pops”. An illness forced his retirement in the mid 90’s. Once retired, he enjoyed spending time with his extended family and his friends within the community and was very much the patriarchal glue that held everyone together. He is already very missed by those who knew him and loved him.

He is survived by his four children; Eric Peterson of Corona, CA; Stephanie Comer of Lawton, OK; Shawna Reed of Norman, OK; and Robert Stroud of Ocala, FL. He is also survived by his brothers, Roger Stroud of Ocala, FL, and Kenneth Woods of Missouri; his sister, Kimberly Stroud of Lexington, OK and his seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Paul Vernon Stroud, his Mother, Pauline Ethel Clay, his Brother, David Stroud, and his wife, Patricia Stroud.

There will be an intimate family ceremony at a later date where Mr. Stroud will be laid to rest with military honors, family, and friends present.
