Doris Loeffelholz

Doris Marie (Appleby) Loeffelholz, 91, went home to be with the Lord March 5, 2015. She was born August 1, 1923 in Norman, OK to William Alexander, Sr. and Marie (Slajer) Appleby. Doris graduated from Norman High School in 1941, and then attended the University of Oklahoma where she studied Home Economics.

Doris loved to organize and host gatherings for her family and friends. Doris enjoyed sewing, gardening, and creating ceramics at the Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Women’s Club and St. Veronica’s Guild. While her children were in school, she volunteered for school activities, and would regularly volunteer at her church and various civic organizations. She volunteered thousands of hours with the Norman Regional Hospital Auxiliary, serving as president of the organization in 1985. She was also an active member in the Kids R Special program for many years.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Robert Loeffelholz; son, Steve Loeffelholz; sister, Loyce Jansing; brother, W.A. Appleby, Jr.; and son in law, David Sides.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet Sides; son, Donald Loeffelholz; grandsons: Jeremy Butler, Tim Sides, Aaron Loeffelholz, and Jake Loeffelholz; great grandchildren: Adrian Hernandez, Michael Hernandez, April King, and Sophia Butler; great-great grandson, Xzavier Hernandez; daughter in law, Diane Opdyke; sister in law, MaryAnne Appleby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
