

Dorothy (Marie) Rollins Berglan, age 94, of Norman, died Monday, December 10, 2012 in Norman. Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, December 14 at the CrossPointe Church, 2601 24th Ave SE, Norman with the Reverend Joe Grizzle officiating. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Norman, under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service. The family will receive friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, December 13 at the Primrose Chapel.
Marie was born Oct. 2, 1918, at home on the family farm NE of Norman, near Franklin. She was the first child of Luther Clarence Rollins and Anna Pearl Wright Rollins. Her grandparents, Major Temple Wright and Emma Eudora Brooks Wright, made the land run on April 22, 1889, and homesteaded a choice farm just west of Franklin, NE of Norman.
Marie attended rural schools at Pleasant Hill, Robinson, and Blackburn for the first 8 years. To facilitate her attending high school in town she stayed for some time with Orin and Ethel Burkett, who were prominent in Cleveland County schools for many years. During her school years she was active in the Franklin Methodist Church where her father held office.
On December 10, 1938 Marie married Paul W. Berglan, who she had known since her first grade in school. The Berglan clan had homesteaded three farms only 1 1/2 miles from the Wright farm. Paul and Marie lived in the Norman area all their lives and raised five children. Marie was an active member of the First Freewill Baptist Church, now CrossPointe, in Norman since 1952. Over the years she taught several Sunday School Classes for small children and later the King's Daughters, a senior ladies class. She regularly attended and enjoyed activities with the "Golden Disciples" seniors group. She was employed for 15 years at Griffin Memorial Hospital, and was a good cook and seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul W. Berglan, brothers, Chester Rollins, Kenneth Rollins, John Temple Rollins, Richard Carl Rollins, and by sisters, Edna Rollins, Alma Davis, Jean Wampler and Etta Jane Lack.
She is survived by a brother Dalton Rollins of OKC, sisters Dixie Sparks of Norman, and Roberta and Eddie Tyler of Norman, brother-in-law Connie Wampler of Norman, and sister-in-law Fern Rollins of Colorado. Also surviving her are four sons and a daughter, Paul Dwight Berglan & Anna Lou Berglan of Norman, Curtis A. Berglan & Reva Berglan of Norman, Gary L Berglan of Choctaw, Caylon C. Berglan of Norman, and Margaret Louise Tisdale and her husband Joe Tisdale. Surviving are nine grandchildren, Lyndon R. Berglan of Norman, Carrie and Roger Johnston of Stringtown, Rockie and Margie Tisdale of Sanger, Texas, Scott and Lancia Berglan of Oklahoma City, Denise and R.J. Testerman of Norman, Brian and Stacy Berglan of Norman, Thaja and Ryan Giles of Newcastle, Tara Abla of Midwest City, and Tia and Michael Simons of Del City. Also surviving are 19 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
