

Elida “Ellie” Holguin Dieterlen, of Norman, Oklahoma, age 88, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and faithful Catholic, was called to be with the Lord on January 26, 2025. She was born on May 13, 1936, in Socorro, Texas, to Silverio and Trinidad (Pedraza) Holguin.
Ellie is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Roy Dieterlen; daughters Betsy Childers, Lori Kill, and Lynn Richardson (Jon); 4 grandchildren Matthew Childers (Kylee), Christine Seapy (Jason), Jessica Dean (Kelsey), and Ryan Bewley (Melissa); 9 great-grandchildren Andrew, Rowan, Haven, Raelynn, Chasen, John Paul, Elida, Olivia, and Ryan; her sister, Lencha Hegedorn; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Dieterlen, her parents, Silverio and Trinidad (Pedraza) Holguin and 10 siblings.
Ellie will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She had a joyful spirit and was always ready to gather family and friends, often offering her home-cooked meals. Her fan favorite dishes included enchiladas, Indian tacos, salsa, and famous CheeTaco. A woman of many interests, Ellie loved bowling, golfing, playing bridge, going to the casino and staying active. She also had a deep affection for listening to Conjunto music, the color yellow, shopping, and playing card games with loved ones. Most of all, Ellie will be remembered for her devotion to the Catholic faith and serving the Lord. She served her parishes by volunteering to clean as needed, making the bread that was used for Eucharist and many other ways.
A memorial service to honor her life will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, located at 100 Stinson St, Norman, OK 73072. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, 1913 N Porter Ave., Norman, OK 73071.
