Felix Alberto Diaz Cruz II passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 22nd, at the age of 65. Felix was born on February 21st, 1959 in Agana, Guam. He was the eldest of three siblings of Felix and Mary Cruz. He attended Eisenhower High School in Lawton, OK where he met his loving wife of 42 years and established many life-long friends. Felix graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration.
Upon graduation, Felix began his career at IBM as a systems engineer. Over the years he held various roles in the IT and healthcare industries. His favorite role, though, was being a fun-loving father to his three children and a grandfather to his four grandchildren. Felix cherished his wife, Lisa, his high school sweetheart, whom he shared a life filled with laughter. Married in 1981, they raised their children and created long-lasting memories at their home in Norman, Oklahoma where Felix remained until his final days.
Felix always understood that you should never take life too seriously and found laughter in every day. He took a great interest in: puzzles, learning, OU sports, and documenting life’s moments, big and small, through his photos. Felix had a fascination with trees and the outdoors, including gardening and camping. His greatest enjoyment came from connecting with friends and family. Felix was intentional and invested in his friendships and would always make sure to keep in touch.
He is survived and deeply missed by his wife, Lisa and his three children: Marissa Sauer, Jason Cruz, and Caroline Harwell. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Emma Sauer, Avery Sauer, Mylah Cruz, and Leo Harwell. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Cruz; his siblings Robert Cruz and Deborah Mitchell and their respective families. He is preceded in death by his father, Felix Cruz Sr.
Felix’s zest for life, his laughter and joyful expression, were infectious and will be remembered in the stories that remain. The world is a more boring place without him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 4th at 2:00pm at Primrose Funeral Service in Norman, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to One Tree Planted organization.
