Jean Reynolds Wolf

Jean Reynolds Wolf was born July 22, 1919 to Edith Case Reynolds and Harry Wilson Reynolds in Hartford, Connecticut. She attended Colby College in Maine leaving to act in New York where acted, sang and danced in off Broadway productions. At the outbreak of WWII, Jean worked in a defense plant, sought to become a spy and ultimately joined the Red Cross. From 1942 until the end of the ward, she was stationed in Australia and New Guinea. After Japanese, Jean returned to the U.S. and taught dancing. She used her art to help rehabilitate injured soldiers returning from war. At Avon Farms, a rehabilitation center, she met an injured officer, Silas C. Wolf, who was to become her husband. Silas and Jean were married on April 30, 1947 in Hartford, Connecticut. The couple lived in Burbank, California until moving to Norman, Oklahoma in 1951 where Jean and Silas resided until his death in 1996 and now her death. Of this marriage three children were born, Silas Wolf, Jr., Edith W. Walker and Greg R. Wolf, M.D.

Jean was a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother. She also, with a partner, started the first travel agency in Norman and was a writer and sculptor. She worked for the Norman Chamber of Commerce and was an officer in several clubs in Norman, including the D.A.R. She helped raise grand children and great grandchildren and lived life to the fullest. She helped her husband, who had suffered extensive vision loss in WWII, to enter and finish law school by reading cases and lessons to him. When Silas was a judge with a traveling docket, Jean drove him from court to court and helped him review transcripts of the many hearings he conducted. Never hesitant to share her opinions on these cases, she became known to her children as “Judge Mom”.

Jean Wolf is survived by two brothers Harry Reynolds and David Reynolds and one sister, Harriet Glass. She is survived by her children Silas Wolf and his wife Nancy, Edith Walker and Greg Wolf, M.D. She is survived by her grandchildren Sara Wolf, Brock Batson, Cassie Batson and her children, Ashton, Ava, and Ryder.

Services are entrusted to Primrose Funeral Service and will be held Thursday, at 2:00 PM, December 6, 2012 at the Norman IOOF Cemetery where she will be interred next to her husband, Silas.
