On a farm in the fine bottomland of the Washita River in Verden, OK, Jennilee was born on February 27, 1931 to Prentice Lee "P.L." and Elsie (Marriott) Perkins, their only child. They moved to Dallas in the mid-1930s and eventually landed on a farm in Hammon, OK. Jenny graduated high school from Hammon High where she was an all state girls basketball player. Hammon also was where she met her future husband, Joseph "Joe" Albert Flynt. They both attended Southwestern State College at Weatherford, OK, and then began their life together being married on September 23, 1948. They moved to Garden City, Kansas for Joe's profession in television, and ended up in Oklahoma City where Joe was employed by WKY television and then radio. There they started their family and had the first three of their four children. Since both Jenny and Joe were only children, they wanted a large family. Another move to El Reno, OK, and they finished their family with the birth of their fourth child.
Jenny not only had her own four children but also ''adopted'' many friends who became part of her extended family. Cooking for a group was something she thoroughly enjoyed. She was always opening her home to feed anyone who happened to be around for a meal. In addition she loved sewing and would stay up all night if necessary finishing a dress or a needed costume for school.
Jenny moved with Joe and family to Norman in 1963. They went into business for themselves in 1978 opening Pizazz, a retail decorating and framing store in Norman. During their busy life together Jenny and Joe managed to travel to New York City, California, Branson, MO, and twice to explore the Virgin Islands on a sailboat. She and Joe celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2008 before Joe went to be with the Lord in 2009. A strong, independent woman, Jenny continued to live alone in the home she and Joe had painstakingly remodeled. Adventurous though, she continued her travels to Mexico, Kauai, Virginia, Lake of the Ozarks and Washington State several times to visit grandchildren. She joined her loving soulmate, Joe, on July 23, 2021, while surrounded by her family.
She was also preceded in death by her parents P.L. and Elsie, parents-in-law L. Albert and Althea Flynt and son Patrick Lee Flynt. Survivors include her daughter Diana Lynn Flynt Edwards Combs (husband J. Randall Combs), her sons Joseph A. Flynt II (wife Linda Flynt) and Paul R. Flynt (wife Kimberly Flynt). Grandchildren include Gregory Allen Edwards (wife Alexis Edwards), Ryan Anthony Edwards (wife Erin Edwards), Sean Eric Flynt (wife Helen Bailey), Taylor Lynn Sanders (husband David Sanders) and Holli Lee-Ann Flynt. Great-grandchildren are Sloane A. and Piper C. Edwards; Sydney R. and Keira E. Edwards; Eleanor R. Flynt; and Palmer G. Sanders.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 11at Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service.
