

LaVerne "Vern" Clavin, 72, of Norman, unexpectedly left his family and friends on May 31, 2013 in Norman, to begin eternal life in the company of his wife Geanette "Sue" Clavin with whom he shared 43 wonderful years of marriage, his son Stevie and parents Robert and Elizabeth Gladbach Clavin. Vern was born April 5, 1941 in Indian Grove, MO and graduated from Boys Town High School where he learned carpentry/furniture making. He worked for Sears Roebuck and Co which is where he met Sue Briscoe who was the love of his life and would become his wife on August 18, 1962. Vern was recognized throughout his over 25 year career by Sears Corporate Headquarters for supervisory excellence and was the Engineering Superintendent at the Sears store on 44th/Western. Upon retirement from Sears he was an independent contractor and owner of Clavin Construction. A loving grandfather who never met a stranger, Vern enjoyed showing his 1957 Chevrolet BelAir at numerous car shows and community events. He thoroughly enjoyed the company and friendship of fellow antique car enthusiasts.
Vern will be missed greatly by his daughter Debi Shaw and son-in-law Anthony, along with his grandchildren Michael, Elizabeth and Sarah, his daughter Tami Clavin, his sister Nina Ruth Conrad, close friends Linda Morris, Mike Smart, Richard and Nancy Reed and his godmother Maxine Gladbach along with many nephews, nieces and extended family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June, 7, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. An evening prayer service will be held at 6:30 PM at the Primrose Chapel on Thursday, June 6, 2013. Services are entrusted to Primrose Funeral Service.
