

Marvin was born January 12, 1937 in Tulsa, OK to Cleophus C. and Rena Irene (Dunlap) Burnett. He graduated from Springfield Elementary, Grover Cleveland Jr. High and Will Rogers High School in Tulsa. He was active in Boy Scouts achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and later a Scout Master. He then attended and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1960 with an Arts and Science Degree, as well as Rose State College and OSU Tech in Oklahoma City. He taught science and math at Lovington Jr. High in New Mexico, and West Jr. High in Norman. He also worked at the University of Oklahoma Chemistry Department. Marvin worked as a Technician for Sprint for 31 years in Oklahoma City.
Marvin was a funny and loving father, husband and friend. He had a very analytical and logical mind and loved solving problems. He was an avid reader, collector, and loved electronics. He was generous and kind and always willing to help his friends or family. Dad will be missed by all who knew him.
Marvin is preceded in death by his parents; wife: Nancy Burnett; brother: C.J. Burnett; nephew: Craig Burnett.
Marvin married Tressa (Ward) Burnett and later Nancy (Heinicke) Burnett.
He is survived by sons: Chris (wife Dion) and Tim (partner Yvette); daughters: Deena Parsons and Susan Joa (husband Frank); granddaughters: Ashley and Emily; grandson: Cy Murr; nieces: Linda (Burnett) Dolusic and Terri (Burnett) Collins and close companion Norma Cleghorn.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to the Friends of the Norman Library.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday November 19, 2015 at Sunset Memorial Park and Cemetery, 2301 E Indian Hills Rd, Norman, OK.
