Melba Ann Qualls Tubbs Lloyd

She was born October 20, 1927in Shawnee, OK to Emil Otis and Ethel LaRue (Foster) Qualls.

Melba graduated from Shawnee High School and as a young woman lived in both Dallas and Los Angeles. In 1949 she married Arlie Lester Tubbs. He preceded her in death in 1995. She then married John William Lloyd, Sr. in 1996. He preceded her in death in 2013. She spent many years being a stay at home mom and then later in life working for the Pioneer Library System. She always believed you should “Never be afraid of color.” She loved birds, reading, children, particularly babies, camping, spending time with family and water skiing which she learned to do after the age of 40.

Survivors include her children: Susan McCauley of Shawnee, Marily Phillips of Fort Worth, Arlie Tubbs of Batesville, Arkansas, Peggy Black of Eufaula, Charles Tubbs of Mill Spring, North Carolina, and Nancy Peterson of Norman; siblings: Bob Qualls of McKinney, TX, David Qualls of Shawnee, Kathy Kaiser of Norman; grandchildren: Brian Battershell, Jana DuBord, Kelly Teeples, Ryan Teeples, Sean Teeples, Jake Meckley, Mary Daniel, John Tubbs, Aaron Black, Michael Black, Lauren Tubbs, Cameron Tubbs, Colby Tubbs, Connor Peterson, and Nicki Peterson; great grandchildren: Brayden and Bailey Battershell; Lexi and Jonathan DuBord; Reilly Teeples; Collin and Liam Teeples; Kai Teeples; Samantha Dickey and Cory Daniel; and Trinity and Tyler Tubbs; great-great grandchild: Darren Dickey.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday January 8, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Park and Cemetery, 2301 E Indian Hills Rd, Norman, OK.
