Merl was born in Bristow, Oklahoma to Harry and Beulah Diantha (McCoy) Hill. He went to Washington Elementary. He was an Army Air Force Veteran of WWII and retired as an aircraft mechanic from the FAA. Merl was a member, deacon, and Sunday School teacher at Cookson Hills Baptist Church.
Merl is survived by his wife Naomi Mary Hill of the home; siblings Louise Dover of Oregon and Harold Hill of Oklahoma; children Merl M. Hill, Jr. and wife Martha of Moore, OK, Jackie L. Hill of Greeley, CO, Patricia E. Auwen and husband Fred of Wellston, OK; Dr. Billy W. Hill and wife LaVana of Checotah, OK; grandchildren Ronald A. Hill of Chicago, IL, Deborah Pena of Brownsville, TX, Wendy D. Massey of Shawnee, OK, Jacqueline M. Schmidt of Greeley, CO, Steven S. Bishop of Sparks, OK, Teresa R. Propes of Greeley, CO, Trae Hill of Carrollton, TX, Desiree C. Vaughn of Yale, OK, Nicholas Z. Hill of Fort Worth, TX, and Danielle K. Hill of Checotah, OK; and 23 great-grandchildren.
