

Michael Allen “Mike” Tucker, 75, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on May 11, 2026, in Norman. Mike was born on February 26, 1951, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Harvey Jay Tucker and Lela Mae (Cox) Tucker.
Mike spent his early years in Blackwell, where he lived from birth through college before making his home in the Norman and Noble area for the past 47 years. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern State College in Alva, Oklahoma, and later received his master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
On July 14, 1979, Mike married Catherine Ava Teakell. Together they shared 46 years of marriage raising two wonderful daughters.
Mike dedicated much of his professional life to education and mentorship. He taught math and coached football, golf, and wrestling at the junior high level before becoming a junior high principal. His influence reached countless students, athletes, coworkers, and families throughout his career.
Outside of work, Mike enjoyed staying active and involved in the community. Bowling was one of his greatest passions, and he bowled in a league for the past 10 years. He also traveled throughout the United States competing in tournaments. In retirement, Mike enjoyed driving for Uber, which gave him the opportunity to meet new people and share conversations and stories along the way. He also refereed football, baseball, wrestling, and volleyball.
Mike had a deep appreciation for music and especially enjoyed Elvis Presley, The Beach Boys, Garth Brooks, and many popular songs from the 1950s and 1960s. He was a faithful member of Noble Church of the Nazarene for 45 years and cherished the friendships and faith community he found there.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Tucker; his mother, Lela Tucker; and his brother, Gary Tucker.
He is survived by his faithful wife, Catherine Tucker of the home; daughters Ashley Moody and husband Blake of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Cherith Tucker of Shawnee, Oklahoma; grandchildren Macie Moody and Brax Moody; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, former students, and colleagues who will miss him dearly.
Mike will be remembered for his dedication to others, love of sports and teaching, and the positive impact he made on so many lives. His legacy of encouragement, service, and friendship will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A Graveside Service will be held at Hickory Grove Cemetery, 24247 S 595 Rd, Grove, OK 74344, US, on May 30, 2026, at 12:00 pm.
