Nora Ann Barnhill

Nora Ann Barnhill, age 85, went home to be with the Lord on August 23, 2025, in Norman, Oklahoma. She was born on August 5, 1940, in Vinita, Oklahoma, to James Welch Gallagher and Mary Ann Fischer Gallagher.

After graduating from high school, Nora pursued studies at the University of Oklahoma before beginning her professional journey. She dedicated much of her life to serving others, first in health care as a devoted nurse’s aide and later in the banking industry. Nora found joy and fulfillment in both paths, transitioning between them throughout her career.

Nora had many passions. She loved listening to country and western music and enjoyed bowling, often participating in various leagues. She was a woman of strong faith and a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

On April 17, 1959, Nora married the love of her life, Elvin Eugene Barnhill. Together, they shared 66 wonderful years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Jones, and her brother-in-law David Jones.

Nora is survived by her loving husband, Elvin Eugene Barnhill, of the home; her daughters Gwen A. Harrington and husband Dean R. of Moore, Oklahoma; Cathy J. Yates and husband Charles G. of Norman, Oklahoma; and Rita K. Borgardts and husband Michael R. of Norman, Oklahoma. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Amber Vanbuskirk, Kyle Harrington, Kayla Prather, and Krystal Knudsen; and three great-grandchildren: Khloe Vanbuskirk, Constance Vanbuskirk, and Westin Prather. In addition, she leaves behind three nieces, one nephew, and her beloved fur baby, Barney.

Nora’s warmth, strength, and unwavering love for her family and faith will be remembered always. She brought light and kindness to those around her, and her memory will continue to be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

A Rosary Service will be held for Nora on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 6:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 N Porter Ave., Norman, OK, 73071. A funeral Service will be held Friday, August 29, 2025 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 211 N Porter Ave., Norman, OK, 73071.

Nora will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 1913 N. Porter Ave., Norman, OK, 73071.
