

Pete earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma. He proudly served his country as a Vietnam Veteran in both the Air Force and Army from 1966 to 1970. With over 40 years in the investment and financial industry, Pete was a Registered Principal and Certified Financial Fiduciary, earning numerous honors and accolades throughout his distinguished career.
On March 15, 1968, Pete married his beloved wife, Wanda Mae Lee, at Tinker Air Force Base, and they enjoyed a loving and fulfilling marriage that spanned 56 years.
In his spare time, Pete cherished fishing for trout on the river with his grandchildren, cheering for the University of Oklahoma football team, driving his beloved 1970 Chevy Pickup—which he bought in 1970 and owned for 54 years—and going RV camping with his family and friends.
Pete will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His faith in the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was paramount in his life. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church for 26 years and served as an elder and senior elder at St. John’s Lutheran Church for 25 years, most recently worshiping at Christ Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pete is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Shurow of the home; children Peter Michael Shurow Jr. and wife Cynthia of Newcastle, OK; Eric Lee Shurow of Oklahoma City, OK; Stephanie Ann Pollard and husband Thomas of Moore, OK; and Mandy Janette Ward of Yukon, OK. He is also survived by his siblings Jeffrey Shurow and wife Mae of Lexington, KY; Frank T. Shurow Jr. of Norman, OK; and his cherished grandchildren: Isaac and Callie Shurow, Skyler Shurow, Austin Pollard, Gavin Shurow, Cammi Shurow, Hayden Pollard, Brynlee Pollard, and Kyler Shurow, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held for Peter on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Service, located at 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071. A funeral service will take place on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Franklin Road Baptist Church, 7327 E Franklin Rd, Norman, OK 73026, with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 2301 E Indian Hills Rd., Norman, OK 73071.
